Episode 91 'Animation in Manchestamation'

If you are looking for an explanation th en, alas, I cannot give you one. Where have you been Thomas? The truth is I' m a laz y git. It take s an enormous amount of energy and discipline for me to sit down and write a load of rambling malarkey. But ramble I must . The deal is this; you suffer the amateur hour that will be my unpracticed writing [typing] and I will buy everyone who likes my blog post somethin g nice (and cheap). There you go; that's my long awaited re-introduction into blogging and it relies heavily on bribary.  Over seven months have dwindled away since my last entry, whereupon many significant and bothersome events have come to pass. Don't worry friend! I shan't be divulging into anything politial or socioeconomic because, to be quite frank, I barely know the meaning of those words. Besides, that's not exactly what this blog was originaly about; opinions of the real world ... w ho wants thos e? When you can happily remain in t he quint es...

Episode 48 'George and the Dragonframe'

Regardless of the numerous dreams of whimsical tomfoolery I have, this post shall avert from the storytelling I usually indulge in and keep true to the original reason to why I started this blog; animation. I have been rather busy in my chosen field of expertise, hence, yet again, why I have been absent from the parallel universe of status updates and new blog entries. I shall, as always, fill you in on Tom's Thumb Productions and describe how my next animating venture should be a very fun and interesting chapter to look into. Enjoy... The Software  - Dragonframe I have been debating for quite some time upon which animation software I should invest in and it has been between the two (seemingly major) players, Stop Motion Pro and Dragonframe . When I began my degree in stop motion I was introduced to Stop Motion Pro and therefore it would be the obvious choice after becoming accustomed to this programme over a three year period. However, after listening to peers and readi...

Episode 40 'The creation of George'

I am so close to the animating stage I can almost taste it on the cusp of my tongue. It tastes like epoxy glue but then I have been going a little crazy recently; surely a bit of mild solvent abuse won't matter. I have completed the main character with his medieval garments and weaponry. The only thing George needs now is a pair of hands and some lovely fabric booties. The progress from the last couple of weeks I have made wire hands before but usually need some advice to get it spot on. Luckily, the 'microblogging' service known as Twitter has been of good fortune to me, where a fantastic stop motion animator and photographer known as Ben Whitehouse  kindly sent me a link to his Blog . His recent entry went over in great detail one of the best ways to construct armature hands. So all I need now is some god damn wire! After posting the cunning plan of the animation table ( episode I of 2012) I have actually constructed it to the letter. I just love it...

Episode 38 '2012 Shazam!'

Image
I have just returned from what ought to be a New Years resolution, however, I have been jogging constantly for the past few months. I like to think that I can keep up more of a routine throughout 2012, but between you and me... this is highly unlikely. Perhaps this year I can simply work on my motivational skills and stop watching Lost or spend hours mulling over my determination to spend a full day sculpting (when truthfully I would dedicate a forced 45 minutes). So there we go; from typing out this paragraph I have given myself a resolution to (quote) STOP BEING LAZY (unquote). This is what I can do if I am not distracted by the likes of Facebook or girls (I shan't divulge in the latter). A Christmas card I painted for my Nan. I did a whole range of name plates in the same style for the able on Christmas Day. So on a lighter note, I do believe I have enough money to finally buy some animating software now. I have been torn between the Stop Motion Pro 7.5 software I am fa...
