The Mysterious Traveller

Not so long ago, in a studio far,  far away.... Yes, it's all bloomin' Star Wars at the moment. A parsec away from fatigue? Perhaps. But regardless of what you think of the new film (Rise of Skywalker) the toy industry shall never suffer. Every high street shop has a section dedicated to Star Wars. Whether for toys, costumes, stationary, books, collectables, magazines and stuff; everywhere from Woolworths to Toy"R"Us will have a Star Wars logo slapped onto something.     My appreciation, however, for some of the newer Hasbro Star Wars range has suffered. You may call them pet peeves, I call them sloppy engineering especially when it comes to things like limited poseable parts or shoddy face sculpts. Coming from an animated background does scupper my expectations, I admit, as all the characters I encounter are fully poseable puppets that would make splendid toys (but they are not, they are absolutely not toys).     The Black Series (6 inch) is a q...

Ladies and Gentlemen, as promised, here is my latest animated project for Birmingham duo  55 BPM  and their track  When the Transient Happens.  Pablo was the puppet I constructed and animated with the use of a green screen. This technique allows me to composite the live action footage and the stop motion sequences together. Anyway, I shan't waffle on. Enjoy! Right then, back to the formalities. I wanted to begin by thanking a couple people for their hand in the music video I animated for local Birmingham duo 55 BPM. Uncredited but unforgotten, thank you to Drew Roper who forwarded the project to me after speaking with Charlotte Rose and Lydia Pickering (of 55 BPM ). So the new year brings a new show reel, finally. I hadn't edited my old one (or indeed add anything new) for nigh on three years ago, creating a minor existential funk that needed to be amended. I have slotted in more animation from projects I have been involved with and also with snippets of my own work (including new creations George the Knight and Alan the Stegosaurus ). I think it's generally healthy to remake the show reel every twelve months perhaps, depending on if there is actually things to add of course. Mainly because it's good practice; editing at least.  When I get the chance, I continue to work on the Mortal Kombat animation alongside co creator Steven Cummings  and brother Harold, who has been working on the authentic techno music. This has been an incredibly lengthy process, but each stage presents us with an optimistic sample of what will finally be assembled in the near future.
